Did you buy a new synthetic wig and you absolutely love it except for the shine? Want to get rid of that fake shiny unnatural look? Of course you do, and especially if its a wig that you love everything else about.
The right color, the right fit, the perfect style…but too shiny.
Do not worry.
This look of “to shiny” does not have to last forever and can easily be resolved. This can happen to some synthetic wigs and it has nothing to do with the quality of the wig, just the type of fibre that was used and it can be easily remedied.
Simply take your new wig out of the box and affix it with pins to a styro foam head.
Take a small amount of cornstarch, talc or baby powder and sprinkle it on a blush brush or a wig brush and distribute the powder evenly over the wig. Let the powder stay on for at least two hours and then lightly dust it off and shake off excess powder.
The shine will be gone and the wig will look more natural.
If your wig still has some persistent shine, you can also try washing it. To do this, fill up your sink or basin with 6 cups of cold water and add 1tbsp of vinegar to the water.
Swish the synthetic wig around in the water, then take it out, sop up excess water with a towel and hang your wig to dry naturally on styro foam wig head
No more shine, and a wig that you can fully love all over again.
